Frequently Asked Questions

 

Are there aid stations on the course?

Yes! Runners in the 5km will encounter one aid station, 10km runners will find 2 aid stations, and half marathon runners will run past aid stations 5 times along the route. These aid stations will have water, electrolyte drink, and porta-potties. The finish line will also have a water station, first-aid, post-race food, and porta potties.

Where is the best parking?

·  Downtown parking lots accessed from 7th Street and 9th Street (payment required) – 5 minute walk to Centennial Park

·  Residential streets north of 10th Street, (no payment required) – 10 minute walk to Centennial Park

·  Millennium Park, 1 Street and 5 Avenue, (no payment required) - 6 minute walk to Centennial Park

·  Canmore Recreation Centre, 1900 8 Avenue, (no payment required) – 15 minutes walk to Centennial Park

·  Elevation Place and gravel lot behind Provincial Building/Save-On Foods 700 Railway Avenue – 8 minute walk to Centennial Park

Can a friend collect my race package?

 Yes! Your friend can collect your race package, with your name.

Can I wear earbuds during the race?

No. As sections of the running race do take place on roadways, wearing earbuds are a safety hazard, and are not permitted.

What is the time limit?

The time limit for course support on the half marathon in 3 hours, the 10km time limit is 2.5hours, and the 5km is 2 hours.

Can I change my race distance?

Yes! Email info@canmorehalfmarathon.ca to request a distance change. There is no cost to change to a shorter race distance, and upgrading to a longer distance will cost $30.

Can I have a refund for my race registration?

No refunds are available for race registrations.

 

Are there finisher medals, or winner medals?

Yes! All finishers in every distance will receive a finisher medal. The top 3 finishers in each distance and sex will receive a winner medal. The top male and female in each race will receive a medal, and winner prize.

 

Will there be post-race food for participants? 

Yes! After the race, participants can enjoy post-race refreshments of BC fruit, and locally baked goods.

 

Can I run with my dog?

Unfortunately, no dogs are not allowed in the race, and the Town of Canmore’s bylaws state that no dogs are allowed in Centennial Park.

 

Can I run with a stroller?

Unfortunately, no. As much of the course takes place on pedestrian pathways with two-way running traffic, strollers are not allowed in the race as they can cause congestion along the race course. 

Is there a bag drop?

There is no secure bag drop available, but we do have an unsecured bag drop at the Volunteer Tent in the Start/Finish area at Centennial Park.

Where will race results be published?

Race results will be published live at www.zone4.ca
